hello! i live about four hours away from home so it’s not that crazy, but it’s not to where i feel like i can visit if we’re not on a break
and i’m sorry that i actually have little advice to give you, because i have had pretty much no trouble with adjusting to being away from home— i’ve never had a problem with being away from my family, even if i do love them and i can’t really think of any time this year where i’ve been homesick to the point of being upset or anything (it’s been like this since i was little, i’ve always wanted to be ~*on my own*~ i guess)
keeping in mind that i know absolutely nothing, i would say to keep busy the first few weeks (that shouldn’t be hard to do, there’s usually a whole lot going on at the beginning) and to let yourself feel homesick and sometimes you might want to cry about how much you just need your mom to be there, but you might surprise yourself with how easy it is to adjust and that you can still talk to your mom every day or even throughout the day and if you’re really close to your mom, being away from her won’t ruin any of that
and in my own experiences, i’ve realized just how great my mom is and appreciate her a whole lot more since i’m away from her so often and it makes coming home really special
